The Producers

I have gotten in the habit of consulting the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer prior to watching any film. Had I done so before renting The Producers, I would have saved myself some money ($3) and time (30 minutes, since that's all I could sit through). The film received 52% overall, and only 26% from the "cream of the crop" reviewers, and for good reason. Is this stuff funny on the broadway stage? Maybe, but I doubt it. It's certainly not funny--gut-wrenching in fact--on film.
